At the end of the school year, the head of a subject department in a high school has the responsibility of allocating levels of achievement to students especially for those graduating at that time. Among the cohort, there are always students who will be defined as students who need special consideration. Special consideration can be granted to students whose education has been significantly interrupted by sickness, bereavement, family problems and the like. This article explains how the author as a head of department went about awarding special consideration with the help of his teaching staff.
